Guests on a Masai Mara safari in Kenya at Entim are uniquely positioned within the reserve and can enjoy exclusive sundowners, game viewing, game drives and bush meals as well other activities like ballooning and cultural visits.
Game viewing is good all year round on a Masai Mara safari in Kenya, although this region is most famous for its annual great migration. An extraordinary event, the Great Migration involves a mass movement of ungulates, most notably the Wildebeest.
Near the beginning of July every year vast numbers of these creatures move en-masse from the southern plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania to cross crocodile filled Mara River and head north in search of lush green grasses after the rains. It is estimated that more than half a million Wildebeest enter the reserve each year, followed by large numbers of Zebra and opportunistic predators.
Survivors of this initial journey will then return south around October to the now-greener pastures of Tanzania, leaving the dusty plains of the Masai Mara to rejuvenate with the onset of the short rains in November.
Maasai Driver Guides
The local Maasai driver-guides at Entim Mara are trained to a high standard and have grown up in the area. They have an instinctive talent for spotting game and natural ability to read animal spoor, as well as signs of an impending natural event, such as a river crossing or a predator kill.
Game drives in 4x4 vehicles:
These take place at the coolest and best times of day when the animals are most active. At dawn and dusk Entim’s knowledgeable Maasai driver-guides take guests out to view game. The game drives carry bean bags for photographers and Entim Mara camp is becoming a leading base for professional photographers on a Masai Mara safari.
